It feels so good to feel myself again!
It feels so good to feel myself again. I’m pretty tall and have always been fairly slim. Sure, at times carried extra weight, but it’s always been relatively easy for me to drop it. Enter menopause! Not to mention Covid! For the last five years, I’ve had to work harder to keep myself at my optimum weight, with the last year being the most difficult. Over the summer, we visited family overseas, and not having seen them in five years, I gave myself permission to “just enjoy” and not worry about the consequences. OPEN SEASON… eat, drink and be merry! Of course, I had the best time, and coming back to Australia, the evidence was on the scales. I felt it in my body – from the top of my head to the tips of my toes – heartburn (not had this since pregnancy), foggy brain, and the return of the dreaded hot flushes. So I was ready! I believe you have to be in the right frame of mind to commit to anything like this, to desire to change your ways. On the recommendation of my good friend, I bit the bullet and signed up for the program, and I am so pleased I did. It hasn’t gone exactly according to plan. In week three, I had unplanned surgery. This entailed three days of forced fasting (dinner to dinner) whilst I awaited surgery every day, and I have to say that I was quite taken aback by how my body and mind coped with it. I also have to give Donna and her team a HUGE shout-out – their practical advice, support and caring were second to none. Due to this disruption (including not being able to exercise properly whilst I recover), I decided to extend my program by a week. I look forward to moving into maintenance to integrate this way of being into my lifestyle. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to Donna, her team and this community!
