What's your Why

To find the meaning of life is a never-ending quest for some with ever changing answers.


But to find life’s purpose is completely different and much more achievable.

It still takes some digging, a bit of self-reflection and mental clarity but when you work it out, everything in your life will adjust and fall into place.

The crucial questions to ask are these: What do I want to achieve in my life? Who am I and who do I want to be? How do I want to be seen by others?

Finding the answers to these questions means finding your path and really calls on you to be honest in how you feel about yourself. It will affect your relationships, your work, your friendships and, perhaps most importantly, your health.

We can look to celebrities for some great examples of the shift that comes about with finding your purpose.

Adele recently said in an Oprah interview that her purpose wasn’t to lose weight but she was suffering a lot of stress when her relationship broke down and just started exercising as a way to relieve that emotional pressure, feel stronger and to fulfil her work commitments.

Rebel Wilson also had her own reasons for losing weight, reportedly tired of feeling unhealthy and worn down despite being at the peak of her career.

Trying to reach a certain number on the scales would not have been a compelling enough reason for either of them and it isn’t what sustains anyone in living a healthy lifestyle. It’s much deeper than that and so important to answer that simple question. What is your life’s purpose?

Everyone gets to a point where they’re ready for change and fulfil this basic human need to be well. Maybe it’s a health scare and you’re suddenly aware of your mortality or you may have a big challenge coming up that you don’t feel equipped to handle physically or mentally. Those life points can trigger a deeper understanding of purpose.

It’s different for everyone but it’s not going to be the site of a certain number on the scales. There are many symptoms of your body not functioning well and the one we’re most worried about, but non-accepting of, is weight when there are a whole lot of other issues going on internally that we can’t see. If we could see those, we’d be much more pro-active and the life purpose would be loud and clear.
